IRAS DAY 2024- The DELHI CHAPTER
IRAS Day is celebrated every year on the last Saturday of November. Continuing this tradition, the Delhi Chapter of IRAS Day 2024 was observed on 30th November. The event brought together around 160 serving and retired IRAS officers, along with their spouses, including 30 retired officers whose presence added charm to the occasion.
The evening began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a rendition of Saraswati Vandana. Retired Financial Commissioners and Secretaries to the Government of India were then felicitated, followed by a warm welcome address by Shri Nawal K. Srivastava, AM/Revenue and President of the IRAS Association.
The technical seminar began with a session on “Sustainable Financial Practices for Indian Railways” by Shri Manoj Kumar Dubey, CMD/IRFC, who emphasized the vital role of IRAS in fostering sustained investment for Indian Railways. A key highlight of the event was an insightful session titled “Technology in Indian Railways: A Historical Overview” by Prof. Deepak Kumar, showcasing the innovative technological strides made by Indian Railways over the years. A short film featuring heritage photographs of railway stations and bridges was also screened and received widespread appreciation.
Ms. Roopa Srinivasan, Member (Finance), delivered an inspiring address, focusing on the evolving role of IRAS officers as strategic partners in driving the future of Indian Railways. She highlighted the year’s achievements and urged members to uphold the core principles of continuous learning, innovation, integrity, ethical governance, professional excellence, stakeholder collaboration, customer-centricity, sustainability, and technology-driven efficiency.

This was followed by a vibrant cultural performance by the North East Zone Cultural Committee, featuring a young choir group. The evening ended on a high note, making IRAS Day 2024 a memorable and enriching celebration.
