The new IRAS Logo assimilates the past, present and future to demonstrate the future ready IRAS which upholds the principles of “Propriety, Proficiency and Productivity”.
The logo has been carefully designed to demonstrate the nature of the service and contemporary times.
Adorned with the National Emblem, the logo symbolizes service to the Government of India. The Railway bogie resting on the track symbolizes that IRAS is dedicated to serving the Indian Railways, the three wheels represents evolution and motion, and upholding the motto of “Propriety, Proficiency and Productivity”. The book and the computer monitor symbolizes that IRAS is the fusion of both old and new methods of analysis, its ability to continuously evolve and embrace innovations, bridging the traditional methods of accounting and book-keeping with latest technology such as data analysis, AI etc. to propel IR to an upward growth trajectory.
Finally the 25 pairs of leaves on the logo represents the 17 Zonal Railways and 8 Production units which comprise India Railways. They also symbolizes wisdom, prosperity, motion and continuity.
The logo is a demonstration of the “FUTURE READY IRAS”.

IRAS DAY 2024 – Chennai Chapter
IRAS Day 2024 celebration of Chennai chapter, was organized on 23.11.2024 by the IRAS fraternity of Southern railway and Integral Coach Factory (ICF). The event was attended by 65 retired and serving officers. Keeping in mind the changing role of the service and as a wakeup call to rise up to the new challenges; the theme for this year’s celebration was decided as IRAS: “Bridging the past; Empowering the future”.
The meeting began with the lighting of Kuthuvilaku by the retired officers and the PFAs of SR and ICF. Smt. Malabika Ghosh Mohan, PFA/SR and Shri. R. Lalith Mohan, PFA/ICF welcomed the gathering. The new IRAS logo was unveiled and the retired officers were briefed about the salient aspects of the new logo. Respects were paid to the officers whom the IRAS family lost in the previous four years. In keeping with the tradition of felicitating the retired officers; this year, officers who had completed 90 years of age and made exemplary contribution to the Organization and to the service were felicitated. Sri L. Sankaran, IRAS 1953 and Shri. S. Santhanam, IRAS 1957 were felicitated in absentia and Shri. R. Thyagarajan, IRAS 1957 was felicitated in person.
We had an enthralling Technical Session –“Law of attraction: Cultivating a productive and a positive workplace” by Shri. V. Narasimhan, Founder & CEO, ITERUM. It was a very engaging session with the focus on how thoughts can shape our future; this was followed by a lively interactive session.
A quiz on Railways and how it impacts every facet of our day-to-day life was conducted by Shri R. Ananth, FA&CAO/G/ICF in which all serving and retired officers participated with great vigor.
The forenoon session continued with the retired officers enthusiastically enjoying being photographed at the selfie booth and they signed off with a group photo session with the youngsters where one more memory was etched in a single frame. This was followed by lunch. It would not be out of place to mention that the design of the backdrop, the selfie booth, invitation and the welcome board was done in-house by our own officers.
The afternoon session was planned to be an informal session involving many fun and interactive games. This session and the day closed with a high tea.
