The proposals for Track renewals are being received from divisions based on (i) life of track component, and (ii) Condition of track component.

It is found that while proposing the works on condition basis proper supporting data are not sent and it becomes difficult to know the actual condition at site. It is therefore decided that all Track renewal proposals on condition basis should be supported by following data:-

i)   Wear in rail at every 200m.

ii)   Condition of 4 to 5 sleepers to be recorded at every 200m.

iii)  Corrosion of rails including liner bite etc to be recorded at every 200 m .

iv)   Ballast Cushion measured at every 200m.

v)    Rail fracture data on the stretch concerned for the last 3to 4 years in case of TRR is proposed on account of rail fracture.

PWP 05-06 has already been sent to Railway board and list of works sent to Railway board has been sent to divisions through e-mail.

It is requested that the detailed data as mentioned above with regard to the works proposed in PWP 05-06 on condition basis should be sent to this office at the earliest so that this railway is well equipped with all supporting data while discussing for inclusion in Works of FWP 05-06. The above mentioned data should be sent to HQ for further scrutiny by 20th Oct 2004.

In future any proposal of track renewal on condition basis must be supported by the data as mentioned above.
